Columbus’ Robert Mize qualifies for match play in Georgia Amateur
Robert Mize (Brookstone) finished in a tie for 18th on Tuesday after the second and final round of stroke play in the 2016 Georgia Amateur Championship at the Capital City Club.
With that finish, Mize qualified for the match-play portion of the tournament, which gets underway Friday. The top 32 golfers advanced to match play, which will be played on the Brookhaven course.
Mize shot a 2-over-par 72 Wednesday to finish at even-par 140 on the Crabapple course.
Gideon van der Vyver (Columbus State) failed to qualify as he finished in a tie for 40th at 3-over after a 71.
