Northern 12-year-old All-Stars no-hit, batter Smyrna 19-0 in state tourney
Avery Robinson and Tripp Duncan combined for a no-hitter and Northern exploded for 16 runs in the fourth inning to defeat Smyrna 19-0 in the opening game of the Little League 12-year-old state tournament.
Josh Davis went 4-for-4 and scored three runs to lead the Northern All-Stars, who had 18 hits in a game that was shortened by the mercy rule.
Tucker Kite went 2-for-4 with a grand slam in the big inning. Dell Davis went 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs. Ashton Shackelford was 3-for-4 with a homer and drove in three runs.
Robinson struck out three and walked one in three innings to pick up the win. Duncan worked the final inning and struck out one.
The Northern All-Stars will play again Monday at 8 p.m., but the opponent has not been determined.
