Northern Little League wins Tournament of State Champions
The Northern Little League 10-11 all-star exploded for 10 runs in the top of the sixth innings to rally past North Carolina 13-10 on Wednesday morning to win the Tournament of State Champions.
Northern trailed 5-3 heading into the sixth and final inning.
Dylan Presley led off with his second home run of the game. He also had a two-run homer in the second inning that gave Northern a 3-0 lead.
Colton Masse gave Northern the 6-5 lead with a bases-loaded double to right field. Cole Thompson added a two-run double later in the inning.
North Carolina, the host team, rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Presley finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBIs. Masse finished with three RBIs.
Bradford Bush led off the game with a solo homer. He ended the game with two hits and two runs scored.
Ryan Grantham had a hit and an RBI. He also started a pair of double plays at third base.
Clayton Faggard and Ryan Van Dinter also had doubles in the game.
Andrew Wells picked up the win. Presley came in and got the final out to earn a save.
The rest of the team included Keaton Ernest, Joey Walter, Mason Schoonover, Jacob Starling and Cole Hammock.
Skip Thompson was the manager. Donnie Coulter and Wayne Presley were the coaches.
This was the second straight year that a team from Northern won the Tournament of State Champions.
