Myrthil, Keeling win events at AAU Junior Olympics

Two local athletes combined to win three events at the AAU Junior Olympics in Houston.

The eight-day event concluded Saturday.

Jonathan Myrthil, a running for the TriCity Straiders Youth Track and Field Team, won the 800-meter run for 15-16 year olds in 1 minute, 55 seconds.

Myrthil, who also runs for Northside High, won the 1,500 in 4:04.76.

Payton Keeling, who competes for Iron Spikes, won the javelin for 8s at 63-feet, 7 inches. She also finished third in the shot put at 20-9.25 and 43rd in the long jump at 9-1.5.

Others from the two teams who competed were:

Karon Delince finished fifth in the 200 for 17-18s in 21.56 and eighth in the 100 in 10.85.

Decarlos Caples came in ninth in the 3,000 walk for 13s at 22:15.83.

Antonio Crisco finished 28th in the long jump for 14s at 18-0.5.

Louis Raymond finished 27th in the discus for 11s at 40-10.

Kendall Raymond finished 36th in the javelin for 15-16s at 94-1 and 40th in the shot put at 36-11.5.

Keion Absalom finished 20th in the javelin for 8-under at 58-0 and 49th in the shot put at 17-5.5.

Nykolis Raymond finished 52nd in the javelin for 14s at 71-9.

Keldrick Lee finished fourth in the 1,500 walk for 12s in 9:16.60.

Eric Wilson finished 12th in the 1,500 walk for 11s in 11:50.19.

Jazlyn Gosha came in eighth in the javelin for 8-under with a throw of 43-feet, 6 inches. She also came in 15th in the shot put for 8-under with a distance of 17-feet, 1.5 inches.

Haley Wilson finished 20th in the 800 for 11s in 2:37.47. She finished 18th in the 1,500 in 5:30.95.

Sarah Wilson finished 46th in the 1,500 for 11s in 5:57.99.

Kendall Billingsley came in 13th in the 1,500 walk for 12s at 10:19.49. She also finished 22nd in the javelin at 54-11 and 39th in the shot put at 25-11.

Deja Delaine finished eighth in the 3,000 walk for 15-16s at 26:59.94. She also came in 36th in the shot put at 30-7 and 46th in the discus at 83-2.

Faith Carpenter came in 45th in the 1,500 for 17-18s at 6:18.54.

Brittany Floyd came in 21st in the long jump for 17-18s at 17-7.5 and 34th in the triple jump at 35-0.5.

Rachel Jackson came in 40th in the long jump for 17-18s at 16-2.25.

Rachel Givens came in ninth in the 3,000 walk for 17-18s at 25;40.03, 31st in the javelin for 17-18s at 81-11, 57th in the discus at 73-10 and 63rd in the shot put at 26-4.25.

Nacarriah Raymond came in 68th in the long jump for 15-16s at 15-0.5.

Giovanni Avila came in 37th in the 3,000 for 17-18s in 10:52.93.

John Phillips came in 36th in the 3,000 for 15-16s in 10:23.96. Al Briton came in 44th in the 3,000 for 15-16s in 10:40.25.
