Smiths Station Dixie Youth baseball keeps rolling

Clayton Freeman went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs to lead the Smiths Station Dixie Youth baseball team to a 7-3 win over Florida on Wednesday morning.

With the victory, Smiths Station advanced to the “O” Zone World Series final, which will be played on Thursday.

Freeman’s three-run homer was part of a four-run first inning as Alabama took a 4-1 lead.

Trent Hodgdson also drove in a run for Smiths Station.

Gavin Blair, Caleb Johnson, Luke Hasty, Tucker Sims, Javi Marrero, Tavin Womack and Cade Flournoy also had hits.

Hodgdon picked up the win. He allowed three runs on four hits in three innings.

Marrero pitched the final three innings, allowing just a pair of hits while striking out seven.

Smiths Station lost its opener, but it has bounced back with four straight wins.
