USAMU’s Joshua Richmond, Glenn Eller compete in Rio Olympics
Sgt. 1st Class Joshua Richmond, a United States Army Marksmanship Unit solider, saved his best for last, scoring 29 out of 30 in his final two tries, but he came up short of moving out of the qualifying round Wednesday in the double trap competition.
Richmond finished with a score of 135, which tied him with two others for the sixth and final semifinal berth.
Richmond finished second in the shoot-off to Fehaid Aldeehani, an Independent Olympic Athlete. Richmond missed his 12th target in the shoot-off.
This was his second Olympics. He finished 16th in the qualifying round in 2012.
Glenn Eller, also a USAMU solider, finished 14th with a 131 score. This was Eller’s fifth time competing in the Olympics. He won a gold medal in 2008.
Germany’s Andrea Loew and Australia’s James Willett tied for the top score in qualifying with 140s.
The USAMU is part of Fort Benning.
