High school volleyball roundup: Columbus, Northside open seasons in Sequoyah Classic
The Columbus High volleyball team opened its season by winning the 32-team Sequoyah Classic on Saturday in Canton, Ga.
The Lady Blue Devils went 2-1 in pool play, losing to Newnan 18-25, 25-22, 15-10, beating Cartersville 25-16, 25-17 and Sprayberry 25-9, 25-12.
Columbus advanced to the gold bracket, where it went 4-0.
Columbus beat Sequoyah 25-12, 25-11, Newnan 24-26, 25-23, 15-10 and Lassiter 19-25, 25-19, 15-13.
The Lady Blue Devils downed Alpharetta 27-25, 25-22 in the championship match.

Northside opens season 2-3
The Northside volleyball team opened the season by going 2-3 in the Sequoyah Classic in Canton, Ga.
The Lady Patriots lost to Pope 25-22, 15-18, lost to Etowah 25-17, 25-17, beat Houston County 26-24, 25-20, beat Northview 25-17; 25-23 and lost to Northgate 25-17, 25-18.
