Ex-Brookstone teammates Derby, Clark have slow starts at U.S. Amateur

BLOOMFIELD Hills, Mich.

Former Brookstone teammates Parker Derby and James Clark played in their first rounds in the 2016 U.S. Amateur at Oakland Hills Country Club.

Derby finished the first round with a 2-over-par 72. He is tied for 118th.

Clark shot a 3-over 73 and is tied for 156th.

Both played the North Course.

Both will play the South Course on Tuesday for the second and final round of stroke play.

The field will be trimmed from 312 to 64 for the start of match play on Wednesday.

After the first round, the cut would come at even par as 36 are tied for 50th.
