ATLANTA — Kevin Jacob pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings while Matt Skole and Tony Plagman delivered four hits each to lead No. 3 Georgia Tech (16-2, 6-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) over Virginia Tech (13-8, 2-6) 18-8 on Sunday at English Field.
With the victory, the Yellow Jackets won their sixth straight ACC series, including their last three of 2008.
Virginia Tech scored six runs during the first three innings, but Jacob (4-0) held the Hokies scoreless in the middle innings. The sophomore right-hander allowed two hits, walked one and struck out five.
Georgia Tech collected 19 hits in the game and scored in every inning but the second, including a five-run fourth that put the Jackets ahead for good.

In the three-game series, Skole, a freshman third baseman from Woodstock, Ga., batted .667 (10-for-15) with three home runs and 11 RBIs; Plagman batted .571 (8-for-14) with seven RBIs.
