The Alabama and Georgia Tech baseball teams received bids to the NCAA tournament on Monday.
Alabama will be the No. 2 seed in the Tallahassee (Fla.) Regional.
The Tide will open play against Kennesaw State at noon on Friday. Florida State will play Georgia Southern at 5 p.m. in the other first-round game in the regional.
“It’s always exciting to see your name pop up on the screen and realize that you’re one of 64 teams that still have the opportunity to play,'' Bama coach Mitch Gaspard said in a news release. ''We have a lot of familiarity with Florida State, having been there the three of the last four years.
''After a poor showing last year, this is a great opportunity to go back there and redeem some of the mistakes we made last year. We’re excited about the opportunity to play and our guys are looking forward to the regional coming up.''
This is the third straight time that Alabama has been placed in the Talahassee Regional. The Tide was also placed there in 2011 and 2013.
There will be a number of former Bi-City players in the the Alabama-KSU matchup. Former Russell County standouts Jay Shaw, Ray Castillo and Hunter Webb play for the Tide, while former Columbus High pitcher Will Solomon plays for the Owls.
This will be the first time Alabama and Kennesaw State have played.
The winner of the Tallahassee Regional will play the winner of the Louisville Regional, which features Louisville, Kentucky, Kansas and Kent State, in the super regionals next week.
Meanwhile, Tech, which won the ACC tournament on Sunday, is the No. 3 seed in the Oxford (Miss.) Regional.
The Jackets will play No. 2 seed Washington at 4 p.m. Friday. Ole Miss plays Jacksonville State at 8 p.m.
"Anytime you make a regional it's an exciting time," Tech coach Danny Hall said in a news release. "I know Washington is a very good team. They finished very high in the Pac-12, and the overall No. 1-seed in the tournament (Oregon State) is from the Pac-12, so I know they'll be an outstanding ball team. Ole Miss is a great ball park and I know this will be a great regional."
This is the Jackets’ seventh straight trip to the regionals.
The Oxford regional is paired with the Lafayette (La.) Regional, where Cody Walker (Columbus High) and Mississippi State are playing.
