ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech couldn't recover from a lackluster defensive effort in the third inning Friday, falling to No. 15 Virginia 14-4.
The Yellow Jackets (22-12, 7-9 ACC) gave up seven runs in the third frame and allowed two more in the fourth to fall behind 9-0. A.J. Murray got Georgia Tech on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth, and the hosts went on to score three more runs. But it wasn't nearly enough to overcome the Cavaliers' (21-12, 7-9) onslaught.
Jonathan King (2-2) took the loss for the Yellow Jackets.
Friday's game was delayed one hour and 42 minutes due to rain.
