ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech topped Virginia 4-3 at home on Sunday to take the rubber match of the three-game series.
The Yellow Jackets (24-12, 9-9 ACC) won for the seventh time in nine games. And they jumped out to a 4-0 lead through five innings Sunday. But then they had to hold on for the win, as the Cavaliers (21-14, 7-11) scored the final three runs of the contest.
Still, it was enough for Georgia Tech to end up on the right side of the scoreboard, preserving the win for starting pitcher Brandon Gold (5-1). The senior had a dazzling day on the mound, going seven innings, tossing seven strikeouts and giving up just one run on three hits.
