Justus, Gonzalez lead Georgia Tech to 14-3 win over Western Carolina
ATLANTA -- Connor Justus went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs Saturday to lead No. 13 Georgia Tech to a 14-3 thrashing of Western Carolina at Russ Chandler Stadium.
Matt Gonzalez went 3-for-3 with a homer and drove in two runs for the Yellow Jackets. Kel Johnson went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs as Western Carolina had no anwsers for Tech's hot bats.
Western Carolina scored first, putting up two runs in the top of the first inning.
The Yellow Jackets answered with three runs in the first, and they scored in every inning except the third and eighth.
Jake Lee (1-0) allowed two hits and no runs over three innings of relief to pick up the win. Bryan Sammons (1-1) allowed 10 runs on 11 hits over five innings and took the loss.
Georgia Tech (10-0) Western Carolina (3-7) meet today at 1 p.m. for the final game of the series.
