8-run third inning boosts CVCC to 12-1 win over Thomas JV

Chattahoochee Valley Community College erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the third inning on their way to a 12-1 win over the Thomas University junior varsity squad Tuesday at Howard Lake Field.

Thomas took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning before the Pirates took control of the game 8-1.

AJ Willouhgby hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning. Trent Simpson added a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Stewart Tyler (2-0) gave up five hits and one earned run over four innings and picked up the win. He walked one and struck out one.

CVCC (22-8, 8-2 ACCC) travels to Mobile, Ala., Thursday to play a doubleheader at Bishop State at 1 p.m.
