Duke edges Georgia Tech 14-13 in slugfest
Griffin Conine scored on a wild pitch in the top of the 10th inning as Duke edged Georgia Tech 14-13 in slugfest that featured five home runs and 33 hits.
Duke’s Jack Labosky went 4-for-5 with two 3-run homers. He also had a 2-run double to tie the game at 12-12 in the seventh inning.
Tech (20-6, 6-5 ACC) used seven pitchers and Duke (13-14, 3-8) used five.
Georgia Tech had plenty of offense. Kel Johnson and Brandt Stallings homered. Stallings drove in three runs. Tristin English went 4-for-6 with an RBI.
Mitch Stallings (1-1) picked up the win in relief. Tanner Shelton (0-1) took the loss in relief.
In Friday’s game, Georgia Tech pitchers spread out seven hits over nine innings as Georgia Tech edged Duke 3-2 in the series opener.
The teams meet in the final game of the series today at 1 p.m.
