CVCC sweeps Faulkner State 10-1, 6-5 to end regular season

CVCC got strong pitching and good run support Saturday to sweep a doubleheader 10-1 and 6-5 from Faulkner State.

In Game 1, Jordan Lee allowed one run (unearned) on three hits and struck out nine to pick up the complete-game win.

The Pirates got one run in the first inning, five in the second inning and added four more in the sixth inning for the 10-1 victory.

Nolan Greckel went 2-for-4, JT Thomas was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and Jaylen Smith went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs to lead the Pirates to the runaway win.

In Game 2, the Pirates rallied for two runs in the top of the third inning to take a 3-2 lead, and they held on for the win.

Tim Kennedy was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Tanner Davis went 2-for-4 with an RBI and MJ Rookard went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the win.

Logan Haner gave up five runs on seven hits and struck out seven over 5  2/3 innings to pick up the win. Christian Vann worked a scoreless 1 1/3 innings and got the save.

The Pirates finished the regular season with a record of 45-10, 29-3 in the Alabama Community College Conference. CVCC will be the No. 1 seed in the South of the ACCC tournament. They will open play Saturday at 8:30 p.m. with an opponent to be determined.
