Boston College sweeps Georgia Tech in doubleheader

Jake Palomaki and Joe Cronin each drove in three runs Saturday to lead Boston College to 7-6 win over No. 22 Georgia Tech in the nightcap and a sweep of their doubleheader at Russ Chandler Stadium.

In Game 1, Boston College (31-19, 13-15 ACC) built a 4-0 lead and cruised to the 8-3 victory. Wade Bailey went 2-for-4 for the Yellow Jackets.

Justin Dunn (3-1) allowed three runs on six hits over nine innings to get the win. Jake Lee (3-2) allowed three runs on seven hits over 2 1/3 innings and took the loss Tech (35-20, 13-16 ACC).

In Game 2, the Eagles once again went up 4-0 early. Boston College still led by four runs at 7-3 going into the seventh inning. Tech rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to make it 7-6, but could get no closer.

Bailey went 4-for-5 and drove in two runs and Ryan Peurifoy was 3-for-5 with a homer for Tech.

Brian Rapp (3-2) gave up two runs on five hits over 1 2/3 innings and picked up the win. Burton Delaney (2-4) gave up four runs on six hits over 1 1/3 innings and he took the loss.
