The Columbus State men’s golf teams tees off Monday looking to continue its run of success in the annual Aflac/Cougar Invitational.
The three-round tournament begins with two rounds Monday. The third and final round is slated for Tuesday. It is being played at the Country Club of Columbus.
The Cougars have won the event two of the past three years.
"We are looking forward to the 2016 edition of the Cougar Invitational presented by Aflac," CSU Director of Golf Mark Immelman said in a news release. "It is a strong field that gets to test their skills on a good golf course that is in good shape. It promises to be another super event."
There are six ranked teams in the 14-team field. Those are No. 12 Lee, No. 13 North Alabama, No. 14 Georgia Southwestern, No. 17 Columbus State, No. 20 West Georgia and No. 24 Florida Tech.
"We have a young, talented and exciting team and I look forward to defending our title at the Country Club of Columbus," Immelman added. "We were a little nervous and rusty at our first event, but the good news is that all the mistakes we made are easily remedied.
"I feel confident about our chances at home this week."
CSU finished seventh in the 12-team Saint Leo Invitational last week.
