Columbus State tied for fourth after tourney’s first day
The Columbus State men’s golf team is tied for fourth place after the first day of the Aflac/Cougar Invitational.
CSU shot rounds of 281 and 288 for a total of 1-over-par 569 on Monday at the Country Club of Columbus.
CSU, which has won two of the last three Aflac/Cougar Invitationals, is tied with Lee (290 and 279).
Lander leads at 4-under (277-287-564) followed by North Alabama at 2-under (285-281-566) and Florida Tech at even (287-281-568).
Gideon van der Vyver led CSU at 1-under (70-71-141) and is tied for 13th.
Philip Matlari is tied for 29th at even (69-73-142).
Duncan van der Vyver (71-72-143) and Cole Cruickshank (71-72-143) are tied for 23rd at 1-over.
Matt Zerbel had the non-counting score in both rounds. He is tied for 44th at 6-over (74-74-150).
Lander’s Conor Richards leads at 5-under 137 (65-72).
The final round is scheduled for Tuesday.
