CSU’s Grant Berry earns ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Columbus State University baseball player Grant Berry was named to the ABCA/Rawlings Division II Gold Glove Team, announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sporting Goods on Wednesday.
Berry is the first Cougar to be named to the Gold Glove Team since Blake Edwards in 2014.
The sophomore started 49 of 50 games at second base and committed just three errors in 237 total chances. His .987 fielding percentage helped the Cougars finish in the top 10 in the country in that category.
Columbus State also led all of Division II in double plays per game, turning 61 as a team, of which Berry had a hand in 45.
The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Awards are selected by ABCA coaches committees at each level: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and High School.
