CSU takes third straight tournament
Panama City Beach, Fla. — The Columbus State golf team won its third straight tournament, the Outback Invitational, Tuesday.
The Cougars won the final two events on its fall schedule. The Outback was the first on the spring schedule.
CSU shot a 292 Tuesday to go with Monday‘s 293. It finished four shoits head of first-round leader Clayton State, which had a 298 Tuesday and finished at 589. Lander was third at 590 in the 16-team field.
Clayton State’s Will Wilcox shot a 66 Tuesday in breezy and cold conditions to earn medalist honors. He finished two shots ahead of CSU’s Andrew Georgiou (71-69-140), who finished with two straight birdies Tuesday.
CSU Michael Hicks (70-73-143) finished third, followed by teammates JP van der Walt (73-74-147, tied-7th), Stephen Paine (78-77-155, finish not available) and Jeremy Britt (80-85-165, finish not available).
