Columbus State’s Eva Petschnig was named Peach Belt Conference women’s tennis Player of the Week for the week ending March 22.
Petschnig, a senior, posted a 4-0 singles record for the week and was leading in another match when play was halted. Her biggest win of the week came against Francis Marion’s Tereza Sykorova.
Sykorova, the ninth-ranked player in Division II, was undefeated heading into play but Petschnig took a 6-0, 6-4 win in Florence on Wednesday.
Petschnig, ranked No. 5 in Division II and No. 2 in the Southeast Region, is 13-1 in singles play this season and has won nine consecutive matches.
