CSU drops another two games

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Columbus State never got its offense on track Saturday, laying a pair of goose eggs in a doubleheader loss to Armstrong Atlantic State. The Pirates took Game 1 10-0 and finished off the whitewash with a 3-0 win in Game 2.

Columbus State (24-19, 10-12 Peach Belt Conference) has dropped six of its past seven Peach Belt contests. The Pirates improved to 31-16 overall and 9-11 in the league.

Jarrett Coker (4-4) took the Game 1 loss, but only three of the six runs he allowed in 6 2-3 innings were earned as the Cougars committed two errors. He allowed nine hits and four walks while striking out eight. No Cougar had multiple hits as CSU was outhit 13-6.

In Game 2, the teams were locked in a scoreless tie until the seventh. Phillip Robinson (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season. In seven innings, he allowed three runs on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts. Eric Skinner had three-hits, including a double, to lead the Cougars. Jeremy Slutzky added a pair of hits for CSU.

The two teams wrap up their three-game series with a single game today at 1 p.m.
