The No. 8 Augusta State men's basketball team used a 21-4 first-half run and held off Columbus State in the second half for a 72-59 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Lumpkin Center.
Augusta State led 21-6 when the run ended and held a 33-20 halftime lead. CSU chipped away in the second half, but Augusta State's lead hovered around 10 points. The Cougars got as close as seven points three times in the period.
Lamar Williams scored 16 points to lead CSU. Chris Telesford added 11 points for the Cougars.
Augusta State's Alex Smith scored a game-high 22 points, and Ben Madgen scored 21.
