Columbus State soccer team ranked No. 5 in preseason poll
The Columbus State women's soccer team will open the upcoming season ranked No. 5 in the NSCAA preseason poll, which was released Thursday.
The Lady Cougars finished 21-1-1 last season, advancing to the national quarterfinals before losing at Rollins, which will begin the season No. 2. CSU plays at Rollins on Sept. 13.
Grand Valley State, which beat Rollins for the national championship last year, will begin this season atop the poll. Saint Rose and Colorado Mines are Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.
North Georgia is the only other Peach Belt Conference team in the poll at No. 19.
Later in the season
CSU won the PBC regular season and tournament titles in 2014.
Columbus State will open the regular season on Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m. against Lynn in the CSU Collegiate Invitational.
