CSU volleyball team defeats Albany State for first win

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Columbus State's volleyball team broke into the win column Saturday with a straight-sets victory over Albany State in the Panther Invitational.

The Lady Cougars won 3-0 (25-15, 25-23,25-23).

Megan Frame led the team with nine kills. Abby King had eight kills and nine digs. Caytlin Merritt led the team with 11 digs. Cori Ehmen recorded 28 assists.

The Lady Cougars dropped the second match of the day to Puerto Rico-Mayaguez 3-1 (25-20, 12-25, 18-25, 17-25).

Frame had 12 kills against Mayaguez. Malaisia Stallworth and Andrea Skipor each ended with six kills. Ehmen recorded 29 assists, five kills and nine digs.

CSU (1-7) opens Peach Belt Conference play Friday at 7 p.m. at GRU Augusta. On Saturday, CSU visits Georgia College for a 5 p.m. match.
