CSU men's golf team fifth at North Georgia Fall Invitational

The Columbus State men's golf team is fifth after the first day of the North Georgia Fall Invitational on Monday.

The Cougars shot rounds of 285 and 285 for a two-round total of 5-under 571.

Lee leads at 18 under, followed by Carson-Newman (-13), West Georgia (-12) and Georgia Southwestern (-7).

Gideon van der Vyver led CSU with rounds of 68 and 73. He is tied for ninth at 3-under 141.

CSU's other players were TaeHyung Kim (tie-13th, 74-68-142), Taylor Martin (t-17, 70-73-143), Duncan van der Vyver (t-27, 74-71-145) and Zachary Close (t-69, 78-75-153).

CSU's top player Robert Mize was injured in last week's tournament.
