Janowitz, Corcione lead CSU soccer team to 9-0 rout of Emmanuel
Mandy Janowitz scored two goals in the first 11 minutes and Nicole Corcione added two more before halftime Thursday to lead Columbus State to a 9-0 victory over Emmanuel at the Walden Soccer Complex.
Janowitz scored first at 5:36 on an assist from Corcione. Taylor Marks then headed in a goal at 7:01 on an assist from Hugrun Elvarsdottir. Seconds later Olivia Jarrell scored at 7:23 on an assist from Corcione to make it 3-0. Janowitz made it 4-0 at 10:31 on assists from Jarrell and Chelsea Person. Janowitz now has six goals on the season.
Corcione then scored two goals within a minute. At 27:52 she got an assist from Person and scored her ninth goal of the season. She added her 10th goal of the season at 28:28 on assists from Janowitz and Lindsey Law.
Sara Urbano closed out the scoring at 7-0 in the first half with a goal at 44:17 on an assist from Corcione.
Tori Hood scored on an unassisted goal at 62:23 and Atalia Ramirez added the final goal at 85:47 on an assist by Hope Morgan to make it 9-0.
CSU (9-2-1, 4-0-1 Peach Belt Conference) had 30 shots in the match, while Emmanuel (2-6) managed only eight.
Columbus State returns to action Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a Peach Belt match against Flager in St. Augustine, Fla.
