CSU men's and women's cross country teams win at Georgia Collegiate Championship
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- Columbus State's men's and women's cross country teams took victories Saturday in the Division II Georgia Collegiate Championship at Council Farm Course.
The men placed three runners in the top five to win the meet with 39 points. Georgia College (50), Young Harris (78), Valdosta State (115) and Clayton State (129) rounded out the top five.
Ryan McFall led CSU with a second place finish at 25:24.8. Other CSU runners, places and times were: Cordaryl Whitehead (4th, 26:04.2); Hussen Sadik (5th, 26:13.0); David Thornton (11th, 26:53.4) and Austin Stewart (17th, 27:12.9).
Five CSU women finished in the top 13 to give the Lady Cougars the win with 45 points. Young Harris (56), Goergia College (75), Valdosta State (110) and Georgia Southwestern (127) completed the top five.
Rayna Green led Columbus State with a fifth-place finish at 23:26.6. Other CSU runners, places and times were: Kaitlynn Howard (7th, 24:03.1); Linette Cepeda (9th, 24:36.1); Amber Braswell (11th, 24:42.6) and Sydney Tenney (13th, 25:00.2).
Both teams return to action when CSU hosts the Cougar Invitational on Friday.
