Columbus State soccer player Nicole Corcione receives national honor
Columbus State's Nicole Corcione was named the Division II Female Player of the Week on Tuesday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
It is the first time a CSU played has earned the honor.
"This is a great accomplishment for Nicole," CSU coach Jay Entlich said. "She has been playing tremendous for us the entire season, and it's great to see her get honored, not only by the conference, but by the entire nation. This is just a testament to the effort that she puts in day in and day out."
Corcione had five goals and three assists in two CSU wins last week.
She scored the 11th hat trick in CSU history against Georgia Southwestern on Oct. 6. She needed just 36 minutes to accomplish that feat.
She scored two goals and earned three assists two days later against Emmanuel.
Corcione now leads the Peach Belt Conference in goals (10), assists (seven) and points (27). She received PBC Player of the Week honors on Monday.
