Columbus State men finish seventh in TVA tourney

KILLEN, Ala. -- The Columbus State men's golf team finished Tuesday's final round of the TVA Credit Union Invitational where it started -- in seventh place.

The Cougars shot a 300 to finish the three-round event with a score of 898.

Linestone won with an 877, followed by North Alabama (879), Delta State (882), Lee (890) and Henderson State (892).

Junior Gideon van der Vyver had his first career top-10 finish. He came in fourth at 1-over-par 217 after a 2-over 74 Tuesday. Taylor Martin also had a 74 Tuesday to finish tied for39th at 229. Yannick Gumowski and Robert Mize both ahd 76s. Gumowski finished at 225 and in a tie for 25th, while Mize finished at 230 and in a tie for 42nd.

TaeHyung Kim's 79 did not count toward Tuesday's team total. He finished in 59th place at 236.

CSU will play next week in the UIS Island Gataway in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
