Friday night, Columbus State University will have its annual homecoming march down Broadway featuring about 35 floats and cars.
Who doesn't like some intense rock music?
Friday night on Broadway, the final show of the Uptown Columbus Fall Concert Series will be held with Radiolucent, a Southern rock band from Athens, Ga., providing the entertainment.
The parade is at 6:30 p.m. with Radiolucent taking the stage at 7 p.m. All of the events are family friendly and free.
CSU President Chris Markwood, Miss Columbus Morgan Self and Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson will be taking part in the parade along with members of CSU fraternities and sororities.
Also featured will be the CSU homecoming court, CSU cheerleaders, CSU dancers, horses from the CSU equestrian eventing team and the school mascot Cody the Cougar.
The parade is one of the final events of the school's weeklong homecoming, which concludes downtown Saturday with a showing of the movie "Space Jam" at 7 p.m. at Woodruff Park and "Fireworks Over the Chattahoochee" by the Dillingham Street Bridge.
The public is invited to both showings.
Known for its high energy performances, Radiolucent has become a favorite at venues throughout the Southeast.
The band's debut studio album in 2012 was "Turn Me On and Turn Me Loose."
Radiolucent lists Lynyrd Skynrd, Led Zeppelin and Otis Redding as influences.
Others who have performed in the fall series are Grapevine, Rock Candy, River City Horns, D.S.O.S., and Tribute: A Celebration of the Allman Brothers Band.
