CSU volleyball team defeats Queens, loses to Carson-Newman

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- Kylie Beaubien had 17 kills Saturday to lead Columbus State to a win over Queens University in the opener of the Carson-Newman tri-match.

CSU (3-20, 0-11 Peach Belt Conference) dropped the second match to Carson-Newman 3-0 (17-25,19-25,12-25).

The Lady Cougars got off to a slow start against Queens (8-13) before winning the match 3-2 (19-25, 25-19, 25-23, 23-25, 16-14).

Abby King had 13 kills and Megan Frame added 12. Cori Ehmen recorded 52 assists in the match.

Caytlin Merritt had 19 digs and King recorded 10.

Carson-Newman (21-3) survived early scoring by CSU in all three sets but won all three convincingly.

Savannah Miller led CSU with six kills. Frame and Beaubien each had five kills. Ehmen had 17 assists and 10 digs.

Columbus State returns to action against Augusta University Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Lumpkin Center.
