Columbus State women unanimous pick to win Peach Belt Conference
The Columbus State women's basketball team is the unanimous favorite to win the Peach Belt Conference championship.
The Lady Cougars received all 13 first-place votes in a poll of the league's 14 coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their team.
CSU received the maximum 169 points. Lander was voted to finished second (149) and USC Aiken was third (131).
Armstrong State was picked to finish fourth (124) and North Georgia was fifth (123).
CSU, which finished 31-2 last season, won both the regular season and tournament championships a year ago. It was the Lady Cougars' second straight tournament title.
CSU will host the Army All-Stars on Nov. 5 for an exhibition game. It will host Fort Valley State in the regular-season opener on Nov. 13.
