Columbus State soccer teams wins 12th straight
The Columbus State women's soccer team finished its regular season Saturday with a 4-0 victory over UNC Pembroke at Walden Soccer Complex.
The eighth-ranked Lady Cougars finished the regular season 15-2-1 and 10-0-1 in the Peach Belt Conference.
The victory was CSU's 12th straight. The Lady Cougars went 9-0 in October and outscored their opponents 42-1.
"We scored two goals off set pieces, which was good to see because we haven't done that much this season," CSU coach Jay Entlich said. "We were also able to keep a clean sheet and we're pleased with that."
Chelsea Person got CSU on the board with the first of her two goals in the 24th minute with an assist by Taylor Marks.
Olivia Jarrell scored in the 31st minute for a 2-0 lead with Person earning the assist.
Person gave CSU a 3-0 lead in the 60th minute. Cassandra Wade closed out the scoring three minutes later with an assist from Shelby Rolling.
Maylyn Parsons played for 80 minutes in goal and Paige Betsill finished the shutout, the fifth straight for the Lady Cougars.
CSU will host a game in the Peach Belt quarterfinals on Tuesday. The opponent and time have not yet been determined.
