Three CSU soccer players earn Peach Belt awards
AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Columbus State became the first school to sweep the Peach Belt Conference's three big awards.
Nicole Corcione was named the Player of the Year on Thursday at the annual awards banquet that is held the night before the PBC tournament semifinals. Olivia Jarrell was selected as the Freshman of the Year, and Jay Entlich was named the Coach of the Year.
Corcione is the third CSU player to win the PBC's top honor. Stephanie Lowery won in 2010 and Kansas Bayly won in 2011.
Corcione tied for the league lead in goals with 13 and led in assists with 12.
Jarrell is the fifth CSU player to win the freshman award. She is tied with Corcione for the lead in the PBC in goals with 13.
This is the fourth time Entlich has won the coaching honors. He led the Lady Cougars to their ninth PBC regular-season crown.
Eight CSU players earned all-PBC honors. Corcione, Maylyn Parsons and Shelby Rolling earned first-team honors. Hugrun Elvarsdottir, Jarrell, Taylor Marks and Chelsea Person and Cassandra Wade made the second team.
