Michelle Mitchell scores 20 as Columbus State routs Mobile
The Columbus State Lady Cougars ended their holiday break with a 69-49 victory over Mobile on Wednesday afternoon at the Lumpkin Center.
Michelle Mitchell finished with a double-double -- 20 points and 11 rebounds -- to lead the 15th-ranked Lady Cougars. It was her third double-double in the last four games.
It was also the seventh straight game in which she scored at least 20 points.
"We were sloppy at times today, but our defense was strong once again," coach Jonathan Norton said. "Today was good to knock the rust off from the holiday break before we head back into conference play."
Gabby Williams finished with 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals. Ashley Asouzu had six points and 11 rebounds.
CSU led by as many as 27, 49-22, midway through the third period.
CSU has won 22 straight at home.
Columbus State will return to Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday at Francis Marion. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
