Baker leads CSU men over North Georgia 95-67

DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- Cam Baker scored Columbus State's first 11 points, leading the Cougars to a 95-67 rout of North Georgia on Wednesday night at Memorial Gym.

It was CSU's largest win over North Georgia. The previous record was 14 points.

"We came out with a lot more focus tonight," CSU coach Robert Moore said.

Baker, a Kendrick alum, finished with 27 points on 9-of-11 shooting (81.8 percent).

"He was aggressive from the beginning," Moore said.

Matthias Sigurdarson hit a 3-pointer with 11:37 left in the first half to give the Cougars a double-digit lead at 18-8.

The Cougars expanded the lead to 15 points, 39-24, on a Arben Camaj free throw with 1:02 left in the first half.

CSU scored the first six points of the second half and the rout was on.

Camaj finished with 15 points. JaCori Payne finished with 13 points. Brentine Jackson added 10 points.

The win was the Cougars' second straight, improving their record to 12-2 and 6-1 in the Peach Belt Conference. CSU began the night a game behind Young Harris, who was 6-0 going into its game at Montevallo.

CSU plays next at Augusta on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
