Columbus State baseball picked to finish third in Peach Belt

The Columbus State baseball team was picked to finish third in the Peach Belt Conference in a vote by the league's coaches.

North Georgia was picked to win the league with 10 first-place votes and 138 points.

Armstrong State was picked to finish second with 118 points, followed by CSU (101), USC Aiken (100) and UNC Pembroke (98).

CSU received one first-place vote, one second-place and three third-place.

The Cougars finished 35-14 last season.

CSU also had a pair of players earn All-PBC preseason honors.

Senior Mike McClellan was selected at first base, while Jackson Oliver was picked in the outfield.

McClellan led CSU with 16 homers and 63 RBIs in 2015. Jackson hit .358 with seven homers and 36 RBIs.
