After giving up the lead in the top of the ninth inning, Columbus State rallied with two outs in the bottom to edge Albany State 8-7 on Wednesday afternoon.

The game was the first for the Cougars at newly renovated Burger King Stadium at Ragsdale Field.

Albany State (0-5) scored three runs in the top of the ninth to take a 7-6 lead.

Mike McClellan led off the CSU rally with a single to center field. After Chris Daniel struck out and Grant Berry popped out, Ryan Ihle doubled to left center, driving pinch-runner Juan Montana home with the tying run.

Blake Edwards followed with a double to left center, sending Ihle home with the game-winner. It was Edwards' fourth hit of the game.

Justin Evans (2-0) picked up the win after losing the lead in the ninth. He allowed two runs -- one earned -- on three hits.

McClellan had three hits, while Ihle had a pair.

CSU (3-1) will host Lynn for a three-game series starting with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday.
