CSU softball defeats Miles 11-3, Bellarmine 5-4 in Cougar Classic

Kayleigh Bryant went 3-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs Saturday to lead CSU to an 11-3 win over Miles in the Cougar Classic at the South Commons.

Kia Smith also had three hits for the Lady Cougars and drove in two runs.

Peyton Sorrells (3-1) allowed two runs on seven hits to pick up the win. Brea Reese (0-1) took the loss for Miles.

In the second game, CSU's Smith singled in Bryant in the bottom of the sixth to break a 4-4 tie for what proved to be the winning run in a 5-4 victory over Bellarmine.

Smith went 4-for-4 in the game. Calli Star and Katie White each had two hits for the Lady Cougars. Sydney Barker (2-1) picked up the win in relief. She allowed one hit and no runs in the last two innings of the game. Madeline Kurtz (0-2) took the loss from Bellarmine.

The Cougar Classic concludes today with CSU (5-4) playing Lincoln Memorial at 11:30 a.m. and Miles at 2 p.m.
