Lake Hart hit two homers, a triple and drove in six runs to lead Columbus State to a 14-1 rout of Lynn in Game 2 of a doubleheader Saturday at Burger King Stadium.
The win gave CSU (3-2) a split as it lost 7-6 in 10 innings in Game 1.
The Cougars jumped out to a 5-0 lead in Game 2, scoring five runs in the bottom of the second. Ryan Ihle hit a homer and Jackson Oliver doubled in two runs. Mike McClellan and Chris Daniel also had run-scoring doubles.
Hart started his damage in the third with a two-run homer and a 7-1 lead.
He tripled in a run in the fourth, then hit a three-run homer in the sixth to cap the scoring.
Oliver also finished with three hits. He had two in the first game.
Albert Harless (1-0) started and went six innings. He allowed just an unearned run on three hits.
The Cougars scored three runs in the bottom of the first in Game 1 and made that stand up until Lynn scored five in the eighth for a 6-3 lead.
The Cougars scored twice in the bottom of the eighth and once in the ninth to force extra innings.
CSU's Kaleb Kutsche started for CSU and went seven innings, He allowed just one run on three hits and two walks. He struck out six.
CSU coach Greg Appleton used four pitchers in the eighth inning as he watched Lynn take the lead.
Jarrod Little (0-1) pitched the final innings and took the loss.
The teams play Game 3 of the series at 1 p.m. Sunday
