Columbus State defeats Lynn 19-18 on a hit-by-pitch
The Columbus State-Lynn baseball game featured 37 runs and 35 hits, but the end came on a hit-by-pitch.
Mike McClellan was hit with the bases loaded and no one out in the bottom of the 10th inning to give CSU a 19-18 victory on Sunday afternoon at Burger King Stadium.
The win gave CSU a 5-2 record and the series win over Lynn.
It didn't appear midway through the game that CSU would be close to a win. After Lynn scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning, CSU trailed 13-6.
But the Cougars scored three in the bottom of the sixth then exploded for seven in the seventh to take a 16-13 lead.
But Lynn wasn't done and scored five in the top of the ninth for an 18-16 lead.
Matt Nettles hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. It was his second homer of the game.
Blake Edwards and Nettles each had three hits and runs batted in. Ryan Ihle went 5-for-6. Lake Hart had three hits.
Robert Hayes picked up the win. He pitched the final two innings, allowing just one unearned run on one hit.
