Columbus State softball sweeps Georgia Southwestern

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Columbus State softball team ran its winning streak to six with a 9-3 and 5-2 sweep of Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday.

In the opener, Elizabeth Perdue, Calli Star and Keeli Waugh all homered. Waugh, Star and Kia Smith finished with three hits apiece.

Sydney Barker (4-1) went the distance to pick up the win, She allowed three runs on nine hits in seven innings.

Rachel Rhodes had a double and three RBIs to lead the Lady Cougars in Game 2. Lee Ann Rees,, McKenzie Fagioli, Smith and Waugh had two hits apiece.

Hannah Manley (1-1) picked up the win going the distance. She allowed two runs on eight hits in seven innings.

CSU (9-4) plays in the Catawba Tournament in Hickory, N.C., beginning on Saturday. The first game is at 11 a.m. against Carson-Newman.
