CSU softball splits at Catawba Tournament
HICKORY, N.C. -- Columbus State rallied for three runs in the top of the eighth inning Saturday to defeat Carson-Newman 5-2 in the opening game of the Catawba Tournament.
Kailey Boone went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs for CSU. Peyton Sorrells (5-1) picked up the win.
In the second game of the day, CSU fell behind 7-0 to Lenoir-Rhyne. After CSU pulled to within 7-3, Kayleigh Bryant hit a two-run homer in the fifth to make it 7-5.
CSU added another run but could not complete the rally. Sydney Barker (4-2) took the loss.
CSU plays two more games today. They face King College at 11 a.m. and Catawba at 3 p.m.
