Columbus State men's track team wins Adonica Ferguson Relays

The Columbus State men's track team won the Adonica Ferguson Relays on Sunday at Brookstone School.

The Cougars scored 220 points to easily outdistance the rest of the eight­team field.

Morehouse finished second with 95 points and Stillman had 74.

Two CSU teams set school records. The 800-meter team (Jalen Tolbert, Caleb Williams, Isaiah Lay and Zachary Benjamin) won with a time of 1:26.88.

The 1,600-meter spring medley (Tolbert, Benjamin, Lay and Christopher Miles) won with a time of 3:32.95.

The distance medley team (Cody Mallchok, William Chandler, Tyler Sheffel and Cordaryl Whitehead) won with a time of 10:32.18. The 4x800 team (Mallchok, Miles, Whitehead and Sheffel) won in 8:08. Austin Stewart won the 3,000 in 9:15.55.

Peter Bennett won the pole vault at 3.95 meters. William Chandler won the javelin at 45.54 meters. Zackary Scott won the high jump at 1.85 meters. Tolbert won the long jump at 6.42 meters.

Meanwhile, the Lady Cougars also won a team title with 163 points. Tuskegee finished second with 106.

The 1,600 relay team (Shanila Chapman, Tierra Wright, Rachel Dixon, Kayla Walters) set a school record in winning in 4:31.43.

The same four won the 400 and 800 relays as well in 48.45 seconds and 1:45.53. Amber Braswell won the 1,500 in 5:18.95, and Courtney Hardegree won thw pole vault at 2.60 meters.
