Columbus State softball splits at Nova Southeastern

The Columbus State softball team split a pair of games at Nova Southeastern on Wednesday night, losing 4-2 and winning 11-1.

In the first game, the Lady Cougars took a 2-0 lead with runs in the first and third innings. Katie White scored on an error in the first. Calli Star drove in a run in the third.

But Nova scored three in the fourth off Darby Demarest (0-2).

In the nightcap, CSU scored four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to shorten the game to six innings due to the mercy rule.

Keeli Waugh had a double and drove in three runs. White and Kayleigh Bryant drove in two apiece. Hanna Manley (5-4) picked up the win.

CSU (17-12) will play a doubleheader at Montevallo on Saturday at 6 p.m.
