McClellan gets walk-off single as CSU defeats Montevallo 11-10
Mike McClellan singled home Jackson Oliver with one out in the bottom of the ninth Saturday to give Columbus State an 11-10 win over Montevallo at Burger King Stadium.
The teams battled back and forth all day. Montevallo took a 9-5 lead in the seventh inning, but Columbus came back with five runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 10-9 lead.
Montevallo tied the game in the top of the eighth on an RBI ground out, which set up McClellan for the winner.
McClellan was 3-for-3 with a double and drove in three runs. Oliver was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and scored four runs. Blake Edwards was 4-for-5 with an RBI.
Ihle (1-0) worked the top of the ninth and picked up the win. Kale Latoree (0-2) took the loss in relief.
In Friday night’s game, Ihle, McClellan, Christian Miller and Hunter Bowling each drove in two runs to lead CSU to an 11-7 win over the Falcons.
Brandon Koehler (8-1) gave up six runs on six hits over five innings and picked up the win. Aron McRee (5-2) gave up eight runs over four innings and took the loss.
CSU (29-10, 14-6 Peach Belt Conference) hosts Montevallo (20-21, 12-11) today at 1 p.m.
