CSU rallies for five runs in the ninth to defeat Augusta 7-2
Columbus State rallied for five runs in the top of the ninth inning Saturday to break a 2-2 tie and defeat Augusta 7-2 at Jaguar Field.
Mike McClellan, who also had a double, and Christian Miller each homered in the game. Six different Cougars had an RBI in the game.
CSU Starter Albert Harless, who spread six hits over 7 2/3 innings and allowed two runs, gave way to the bull pen in the eighth inning. Justin Evans (3-1) allowed one hit and held Augusta scoreless in the eighth and ninth innings to pick up the win.
CJ Reed (1-2) gave up two runs on one hit in the ninth inning and took the loss.
Columbus State (32-10, 17-6 Peach Belt Conference) took sole possession of first place in the PBC.
The final game of the series is Sunday at 1 p.m.
