Columbus State softball drops two at Flagler

Flagler scored seven runs in the fifth inning to break up a scoreless tie and went on to a 7-2 win over Columbus State in Game 1 of a doubleheader Saturday.

Flagler finished the sweep with a 7-5 win in Game 2.

Peyton Sorrells (11-7) suffered the loss in Game 1 as she allowed three runs on four hits in four-plus innings. CSU managed just five hits in the game.

In Game 2, CSU got a home run from Elizabeth Perdue in the top of the sixth to take a 5-4 lead, but Flagler scored three in the bottom of the sixth.

Katie White and Keeli Waugh also hit homers for CSU.

CSU (24-25, 8-14 Peach Belt Conference) will play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday at Armstrong State to finish the conference regular season.

The Lady Cougars are two games back of Lander for the eighth and final berth in the PBC tournament. CSU must win twice Sunday and have Lander lose twice to Augusta to force a tie. CSU would win the tiebreaker.
